:: Mige5 2006 Singleplayer OSRS overview
dicking around with runescape private servers for in-house use, and got into this one yesterday. it's been kickass, huge as hell with a lot of the quests implimented, functioning LAN. i've been going through all of them, and so far only a few have softlocked from missing interactions, which given the scale is nice as fuck
i did run into one snag getting it to work. opening the client spat back an error about finding "SubstanceRavenGraphiteGlassLookAndFeel". i hunted around and tried a couple things, gave up, downloaded a few other server/clients, then went back and tried it again, at which point it worked. i wasn't able to replicate that, but here's what i tried
- downloaded the community build of [Intellij IDEA]
- downloaded [OpenJDK 8 / Temurin 8] for IDEA (open folder -> file -> project structure -> set sdk to temurin)
- updated [Java] and [Java DevKit]
- the other builds i tried were [2006-Scape] and [Singleplayer Edition 2009scape]
quests that softlocked:
prince ali rescue:
can't make skin paste, aggie gets locked in a repeating loop of listing ingredients. skin paste also doesn't show up in the item spawning menugertrude's cat:
can't search the crates that the kittens are inpriest in peril:
can't use the key to unlock drezel's cell doorshield of arrav:
not entirely sure but this one's a schrodinger's completable, did it solo by spawning in the shield which let me get the certificate. might work normally, but also might not?scorpion catcher:
partially. you can complete it if you already know where the second two scorpions are barbarian outpost, edgeville monastery but the seers won't talk to you after catching the first one, so you can't get the hints like intendedelemental workshop:
you can't fix the bellows, which is a softlock. the water wheel also "turns on" but nothing changes, which might be part of the problem?
smaller bugs:
- can't pass through the fence gap in lumbridge graveyard
- can't use the exterior wood stairs in falador castle
- during merlin's crystal, merlin is actually already visible in his room like he's just fine, but this doesn't influence the quest at all
- all items in the elegant set and the spotted cape are assigned to the head slot (good to keep in mind for wearing two hats at once, maybe? might be cool to replicate that on purpose with the eyepatch, because they do still show up right on the model)
- lot of little side-dialogue options missing and given the scale that's entirely understandable, damn
